    In this article, I am going to share with 3 Tools you need to have to qualify as remote video editor working from home. Using the tools I am going to mention here is self thought. 

    Computer

    Video editing requires a computer with high processing speed and a graphics card. The later does not matter much if your computer processor speed and Ram is good. For example, my computer is a COi5 Windows OS with 10GB Ram and handles video editing very well.
    If you can get COi7 for the windows OS the better. Most computers and laptops with high specs comes packaged well with good RAM. For mac users, all I can say is you are good to go. Most recent Mac machines have good built in graphics card and processor. This means if you can afford to get a Mac machine, you are ready to get started.

    Premium Video Editing Software

    You need video editing software for editing videos. There are many video editing softwares out there. However few of them are popularly used professionaly. Popular professionaly used video editing softwares are Adobe premiere pro, Camtasia studio, Final cut pro, Davinci and Avid media composer.
    When getting into video editing, its good to have one thing in mind, all of the video editors are out to achieve one goal- edit and enhance the quality of the video. Once you learn how to use one video editor, it will be easy to use other video editors since they have closely similar layouts.
    If you have never edited video before, you learn how to edit videos on YouTube.

     Good Quality Earphones

    Good earphones or headphones are very necessary as they help with speeding up the editing process. System speakers are sometimes inaudible and destructs people around you. You can work anytime anywhere with your earphones on without destructing anyone. Look for quality earphones for this purpose.

    With all these tools I have listed above, you are now qualified and ready to start work as a remote video editor. Get good internet connection and start looking for work online. The work you get can be freelance or Remote job. Look for them depending on where you are located.

    In order to apply for government tenders online in Kenya, you need the following;

    1. Tender Negotiation Number
    2. An IFMIS Active Account

    Getting Tender Negotiation Number

    To get tender negotiation number, go to www.tenders.go.ke .

    On the top menu, click on tenders. On the dropdown, select ‘active tenders.’

    Skim through active tenders there within your category and click view. On the new window click on view again. This will open a preview of the tender.

    Look for one with a negotiation number. Most of the government institutions and county government tenders have a negotiation number.

    As for this example, I have found one from the county government with a negotiation number.

    Download, fill the tender and put together all the documents needed as attachment in one folder ready to submit. 

    Tender Submission On IFMIS

    You need an IFMIS account to file your tender. If you don’t have one already, you can sign up on the portal www.supplier.treasury.go.ke

    Fill in the required details to sign up.

    Once done, login to your account to submit your Tender application. This is where the negotiation number you picked earlier in the tender document will come into play.

    On the right side of the page, you will see menu and below it there is a folder named sourcing supplier.

    Click on it to open the dropdown. Under the sourcing folder click on sourcing homepage.

    You will be taken to this page here. On top you can see number then a box to the left as you can see below.

    Paste the negotiation number on the box and click on go. You will be take to this page here where you will see the tender. Click on the number again to open.

    From here you can complete the tender document and submit. And that is it. If you have any question and need help, click on help link here. This will take you to a page with contact of the support team.

  • 3 Steps to Creating a High Selling Course

    It\’s no doubt, online courses are on high demand at moment. But the fact is still remains, 80% of the total income generated from online courses are earned by top 20% percent course creators.

    It thus means that the bottom 20% are either barely selling anything or selling  a few courses not enough to sustain their marketing campaigns online. So, does this mean top earners content are special than the rest of the creators? or is it that they understand their customers well than the rest? the later may true.

    But there is much more to it than it sounds. Sadly, some powerful courses are gathering dust online because of poor planning and mediocre presentation. Here are  top three things you should have in mind when creating your first online course.

    Always, have in mind the end from the time when you start. Put yourself in the shoe of your student.

    Sound Quality

    This is very important. It involves YOU and the EQUIPMENT that you are are using to record your voice. Before using a cheap microphone, ask yourself, How much do I want to earn from this course? Be honest with answer that you give to yourself. If you want to earn $100k a year from your course, you will not mind investing in at least $100 microphone or lapel microphone for audio recording. It will tell your students that you not only value them, but you value the content that you are sharing with them.

    Video of your face introducing the course on each module

    This can be in form of talking head or you speaking and writing on whiteboard instead of Powerpoint presentation. You may splice the two to break the monotony. This is very important. It builds a personal connection with the student watching the video. It also the best way to become an authority in a set field. Besides, with this type of presentation, no one can plagiarize your work because if they do, they will be marketing you.

    Branding

    Now, don’t ever underestimate the power of branding your videos with a link to your website. Any person who takes your course and shares it with friends on social media, can connect you with with several other prospective students who might be interested in taking your course. Let’s say they share a video overview of your course. Someone who wants to know more about you will first visit your website (which they found on the video screen) and review more of your work. Branding also, makes your course value rise high.

    Personal Experience

    This is a bonus point. Teach something that you have tried yourself and got tangible results from it. In the first chapters of your course creation, it’s critical that you tell your own personal story that led you to achieve great results in the field you are teaching. Then continue to highlight what they expect from the course, and your availability to respond to their questions online. You can offer to have a free Skype call to answer all their  Q and A once a week. You should own your course. This way, you will not only earn more, but you will in turn be doing something you enjoy doing most.

    If you consider these four things when working on your course, you will find it easy to market your course with confidence. Your friends will also be proud to recommend your work.
