On the top menu, click on tenders. On the dropdown, select ‘active tenders.’
Skim through active tenders there within your category and click view. On the new window click on view again. This will open a preview of the tender.
Look for one with a negotiation number. Most of the government institutions and county government tenders have a negotiation number.
As for this example, I have found one from the county government with a negotiation number.
Download, fill the tender and put together all the documents needed as attachment in one folder ready to submit.
Tender Submission On IFMIS
You need an IFMIS account to file your tender. If you don’t have one already, you can sign up on the portal www.supplier.treasury.go.ke
Fill in the required details to sign up.
Once done, login to your account to submit your Tender application. This is where the negotiation number you picked earlier in the tender document will come into play.
On the right side of the page, you will see menu and below it there is a folder named sourcing supplier.
Click on it to open the dropdown. Under the sourcing folder click on sourcing homepage.
You will be taken to this page here. On top you can see number then a box to the left as you can see below.
Paste the negotiation number on the box and click on go. You will be take to this page here where you will see the tender. Click on the number again to open.

Changes in technology has positively transformed video editing. Today, there are several video presentation variations that one can apply on their project depending on the message they are trying to put forward.
Video production
So what are those styles of presentations and how can one apply in their video to bring out the best final video output?
On this blogpost, I am going to share with you 5 different video design styles that are common in the online marketplace. Also, I will share with you how a combination of 1-3 of these styles of video presentations will bring out a stunning video.
#1 Combination- 3D Animations, Recorded Video Footage & Screencast Video Recordings
These three can work together depending on your script and budget. This combination is perfect for product demo videos and software tutorials. To safe on time and money, here is how you can combine them.
3D Animations – This is perfect for use in intro and outro logo animations. This appears for 2-3 seconds in the video at the beginning and at the end.
Recorded Video Footage and B-rolls – It is best used to splice up a video. For example, if the script is talking about a software program or a website service; before the actual screen recordings, one can display someone busy on their computer working.
Screencast Recordings – This is usually the actual screens of the digital product being demonstrated.
2D Animations -This is best used in scenes that need human, living things, cars e.t.c representation.
Infographics Animations – Suitable for scenes in a video that needs some data illustrated. e.g Sales performance comparison between different products.
Motion Graphics – Motion graphics vary from text animation, motion backgrounds appearing at different scenes in a video as seen fit by the video creator.
#3 Combination – Screencast Video & 2D Animations
A Combination of Screen recorded videos and 2D Animations can perfectly work for explainer and app demo type of videos. In scenes where the presenter is talking about the problem at hand and giving a case study, 2D animations can be used to illustrate the message. Then in the midst, one can bring in screen recorded videos to demonstrate the solution the digital product is providing.
The lifeline of long form documentaries and feature videos is video footage and b-rolls. However, It’s paramount to consider using infographics to splice up your video presentation. Since every video presentation’s end goal is to sell an idea, some data will be included. That’s where you can use infographics animations. Also, in some parts, motion graphics animations will play a role.
Conclusion
As a video creator, you can play around the 5 common video design styles. At the end of the day you want to communicate clearly. You can come up with your own combinations.
However, have in mind that all of these 5 different type of video design styles require one to specialize in order to deliver the best results. This means that you may have to collaborate with a 2D animator if you are creating a video that require some 2D animations incorporated. So, if you are a video production business owner, consider getting all costs right when preparing a quotation.
And that is it from me.

Many people find themselves in dilemma when deciding which PIN to using for tax purposes in their business. Before making a decision on this, there are several factors that one must consider.
Video Guide – Which Tax Pin Do You Use in Your Business in KenyaPhoto by Oladimeji Ajegbile on Pexels.com
Before we delve in, its important to have in mind that one can use his/her personal Pin to run business.
In this blogpost, I will share with you 4 factors to consider when deciding which tax PIN to use in your business. The information I am going to share with you here is based on my personal experience.
Business Registration Level
Business registration levels vary and matters. There is the Sole Proprietor Business, Partnership Business, Private and Public Limited Company and Company Limited Guarantee. Each of these have different requirements at the time of registration.
Its only possible to use individual tax Pin with Sole Proprietorship and Private Limited Company businesses. This is because an individual can register and run them as the only director. The rest type of businesses don’t qualify because it requires more than one director when registering.
While with Private Limited Company, one can use their own personal pin, I recommend getting an independent Pin for this type of business. It will safe you a lot of trouble as your the business grow.
Individual Preference
Some people prefer to have their business affairs separated from their personal life. In this case, it will be good to get a separate PIN for your business if you fall in this category of people. This way, all the activities associated with your business will be dealt with separately e.g VAT returns, WHT returns e.t.c.
Alternatively, if it’s a Sole Proprietorship business or Private Limited company and you are okay with using your individual PIN for business transactions, you can do so.
Number Of Business Owned
How many businesses do you own? If you own more than 2 businesses, I will advise you to have separate tax PIN’s for each of the businesses. This will make your record keeping and management easy. As each of your businesses grow, more accountability is needed.
This means that at some point, you will employ an accountant to help you keep the books of account and file your tax returns. For security purposes on your individual taxes, I recommend having a separate tax PIN for business.
Type of Taxes Your Business is Eligible
Your business will be taxed according to the products and services the business supplies. I suggest your check out the various taxes levied on different businesses in Kenya on the KRA website here.
When you know which taxes your business will be required to pay/remit, its easy to decide on whether to use your individual PIN or not.
Conclusion
When deciding on which TAX PIN to use in your business, its important to consider your business registration level, your individual preference, number of business owned and the type of taxes you are eligible for.
Additionally, its good to put into account your projected business growth. As your business grows, you employ people to manage your accounts. When this happens, it will be save not to allow people to access your individual tax account. This thus means that having a business tax PIN is preferable.
With all this said, I hope this information is helpful to anyone setting up their business out there.

Freelancing sites are perfect avenues to work in when you have clients who give you recurrent tasks and pays you well for the services you offer to them.
But have you ever asked yourself where you will be if the freelancing platform you are in collapses today?
Freelancing website platforms have a way of holding unto freelancers and keeping them in their comfort zone. I mean thats what they have to do in order to remain afloat in business.
Many great entrepreneurs lose the vision they had of setting and running a successful online business the moment they start getting freelancing clients.
One slowly starts allocating more of their time to freelancing and before they know, their drive to own an online business dies.
So how do you know that your dream of owning a business is dying as a freelancer?
Keep reading as that is what I will be discussing on this blogpost.
Tell Tell Signs You Taken Away By The Freelancing Platforms
#1 All Your Current Clients Are On A Freelance Platform
Unlike any other job, freelancing is the quickest path to owning a business. This is because you have the freedom to plan your time.
This is unlike 9-5 job where you depend on someone else to make decision for you. So if you only have clients you met on a freelancing platform, then you are loosing it.
#2 You Always Talk About The Freelancing Platform
An entrepreneur should always market his business whenever he or she gets a chance. A freelacing platform is business like yours and has a mechanism of marketing itself. You too should spend more time marketing and telling people about your business instead.
If you are currently doing the opposite, the
#3 You Are Signing Up On More Freelancing Platforms
Thats what will motivate one to take such action by signing up on more platforms in order to tap on more clients. What they forget is, the clients they find there is not their own clients, its the freelancing platforms clients.
The freelancing platform can decide to suspend their accounts anytime on the platform. If you are currently working on more than 2 freelancing platforms and you are an entrepreneur, stop and think, because you are loosing a lot.
Freelancing limits you to doing the job yourself. If you try to have someone do the work, you make losses because the pay is not enough.
Dont let freelancing take everything from you. If the earnings from freelancing is the one that fuels your business, then dont accept many jobs.
Be always open to invest in a team even if it means training them on the skills you have. Write ‘
#5 You Are Always Complaining of Low Paying Clients
Lets face it, in every 3 job postings on a freelancing platform, 2 are paying very poorly. Complaining on different online forums wont change this, as its mostly up to freelancers to apply on not to.
Always ask yourself instead is, where can I find well paying clients? Once you find an answer, go out and look for them. Don’t limit yourself to one place.
#6 Successful Freelancers Hype
Whoever said there is no free lunch was right. Take the motivation and and if you want, buy the course but never let it blind you from going for your dream business. While in all this hulabaloo, remind yourself that you have a business to market.
Dangers of Putting All Your Efforts/Mind/
Focus On a Freelancing Platform
Competion becomes fiecer everyday as more freelancers join a platform.
The freelancing site can suspend your account anytime they want and you have nothing to say.
The clients you meet on a freelancing platform are not your clients. You are not allowed to share contacts and communicate with them directly on e-mail or you will be violating the terms of the platform.
Freelancing platforms algorithms can eliminate you without your knowledge. I have been a client there and have seen many applications being hidden. Application being hidden is like an e-mail being marked as spam. So put yourself in that shoe and think.
Being in many freelancing sites doesen’t necessarily mean you will be successful. Some clients post same job in 3-4 freelancing sites in order to find the lowest bidding freelancer. And you can know this if you are a freelancer on all those sites. That means they might hire someone in the site you are not in.
You might end up leading a lonely life. The jobs you get does not pay enough for you to outsource and build a business. If you work from home, you will find yourself so tied up on the jobs you have and detatched from the outside world. Lonely life is the worst thing one would want live especially in the African setting in the name of wanting to become rich Freelancing.
With the growing number of freelancers joining the freelancing platforms and number of clients hiring through the platforms shrinking, its becoming hard to succeed freelancing and becoming rich than it was before.
Conclusion
All freelancers have high potential of becoming sucessful in businesss. If your original dream was to become a sucessful entrepreneur, stick to it.
Dont be carried away by freelancing platforms which offer you quick connection to clients by just setting up a profile. Aim for sky. The sky is the limit. Within no time, you will have found those high paying clients.
And thats it from me here.
What’s making you hold unto a freelancing platform and forget about your business? Let me know in the comments section below.

Upwork
Getting Started
So how does the video producer decide which skills to employ in a given project?
Its mainly based on the script provided to them by the client. Largely, video producers, editors, animators and motion graphics designers are paid to work on projects that are meant for use commercially.
The end determines the means. How best will the message be communicated? This question will be answered based on the assets the client has and proposes to be used in producing the video. From here the skills needed will come out automatically.
On this blogpost, I will be sharing with you Top 5 video production skills that can make you money online in Kenya and are self thought.
List of top 5 Categories in Video production that will make you money online.
Screencast video production is a little hyped category in video production but has a lot of demand in the tech space. The potential of growth with this category of video production is high. Screencast video production is basically recording computer/tablet/phone screens of a software or SaaS application in action showing users how to use the product or service.
Application of screencast video production knowledge can be used in many areas in video production.
Screencast videos are the ones you find posted on most of the giant website help pages showing users how to do certain tasks on the platform.
While this can be done by anyone, most of the product owners prefer to have the work done by someone else professionally.
This is where they employ the skills of a screencast video producer, freelancer or a production agency. Screencast video production is more than recording the computer or software screens.
There is a learning phase where you study how the software or application works before doing the actual work.
To do screencast videos, you need to have access to a professional screen recording and editing software like Camtasia studio.
Potential Earnings Per Month
This skill has potential of earning you a minimum of $1000 to $5000 a month as a freelancer. It requires a lot of patience and commitment at the beginning before you break through.
Motion graphics has many different definitions. I will define it using my own words. Its basically animation of text, graphic designs, videos and images to communicate a message in the most entertaining way.
Infographics animation on the other hand is more less the same. The difference is that with infographics, your are adding motion to existing informational graphics or data. e.g case studies.
Depending on your experience, you can use basically any professional software. To be on the safe side, I recommend learning how to use Adobe after effects. With the software, you are not limited in what you can create.
Motion graphics skill has demand all over. Once you have built a name around it, your earning potential will be huge.
Potential Earnings Per Month: One video of 2 Mins can make you $300-1000. If you do let’s say 5 videos a month, you are good.
3. Production of 2D Animation and Whiteboard Explainer Videos
2D animations and whiteboard explainer videos are two different things but share a common ground. Vector graphics and illustrations are used to produce them. For 2D, its more of custom designs and animations. e.g Tom and Jerry or the The Pink Panter.
On the other hand, whiteboard explainer videos are produced using pre-designed templates that comes with the video production software you purchase. You just only drag and drop the elements you need in the video based on the script you have.
2D animation projects pays well if the assignment at hand entails working on a TV show or a movie.
Potential Earnings on 2D Animation
One can earn up to $100k to work on a long form movie animation that may take almost a year to produce.
On the other hand, whiteboard explainer videos created using premade illustrations and templates don’t pay much but is highly on demand.
Earning Potential Doing Whiteboard Explainers
On average one gets paid a minimum of $100 to create a 1 minute whiteboard explainer video. You only need to produce 10 Minutes of animation to make $1000.
Software’s like Animaker, Vyond and Powtoon are popular for use in creating whiteboard explainer videos.
3D animation is one of the most demanding skill compared to other categories in video production. That’s why many video producers don’t like it much. In order to model a very smooth and good quality 3D animation video, you need a computer with high specs, time and a lot of RAM to render your animations.
That’s why it may cost up to $3000 to develop a 1 Minute high end 3D Animation.
If you have the right equipment’s and software to work on 3D animations, the potential to earn good money as an independent professional is high online.
Earning potential
$500-3000 per minute of a 3D animation.
5. Video Editing
With many individuals and businesses embracing Youtube as a way of marketing their businesses, there is a constant and growing demand for video editing services. Business minded individuals are looking for video editors to work on their YouTube content.
This means if you are a good video editor, you have the potential to earn good money editing videos. The secret behind succeeding as a video editor is looking for many long term clients.
Earning Potential
If you charge $20/hour to edit a video and a client hires you to work for 10 hours a week, you make $200/week. In a month, you make $800 from one client.
If you are able to get clients who collectively pays you for 40 hours a week and offers to assign you work for a long term, you make good money. In a week you will be making $800 and $2400 a month.
Conclusion
Earning potential of any creative in the video production industry depends majorly on their aggressiveness, how well they communicate, their creativity and negotiation skills. If one is able to negotiate for a good pay, they will earn good money at the end.
And that is it from me here.

Having a access to premium quality royalty free videos, photos, music and sound effects is an added advantage when looking for work.
With all these requirements at hand, you will be well equipped to go out and look for video editing work.
But what if you don’t have the money to purchase licenses to all the recommended software’s and you are very good at video editing? Will you opt for the cracked version of the software’s you need?
It’s obvious most people will opt to go for the later because its easy and you make all the money without paying for the software license. Sadly, it has more downsides than one would imagine when it comes to private data. I don’t recommend downloading cracked software even if your friend is using and recommends it.
In 2022, it is possible kickstart your career as video editor serving online clients using free legit resources.
In this blogpost, I will share with a sure path to success as a beginner professional video editor.
Getting The Tools You Need
By the time you are reading this, I assume you have a computer with the right specs and video editing/creation skills. With this said, here are some softwire’s you can download and use for free and pay for it later when you have work that pays.
Camtasia studio is an easy to use software that I use all the time for my vlogs. As a beginner, you get 30 days trial when you sign up to download it. Within this period, you will be in a position to do many things with the software among them screencast video recording and editing.
You can even produce paid work using the software!
This way, when you get paid for the video editing job, you can upgrade to a paid version of the software.
DaVinci resolve 17 a free video editing software recommended for creators who are into filmmaking. You can do many things using the software on a professional level for FREE.
It’s important to note that the computer specs needed in order to use this software is a bit higher. Be prepared to purchase Blackmagic products as you progress.
Final cut pro is another great video editing tool if you are a Mac user. When you download the software, you get a 90 day free trial.
This the longest window period that no other video editing software company has attempted to offer. Their competitor Adobe premiere pro gives users only 7 days to try.
I believe they did this considering the video production industry terrain. There is no guarantee for work when beginning or at all time. Its a good offer for a starter who is hard working as they can learn to use the software and do a lot with it during this period.
This is another professional software that one can consider when starting up. It was widely used between 2000-2010 before final cut Pro came in for Mac. The company offers four different versions of the software.
As a beginner, you can start with the free version –Media composer first– then progress to the professional version of it once you start making money from video editing.
These are few of the many professional video editing software’s that I have tried and used for free in the past. I know you are wondering; what about Adobe Premiere and Adobe After effects? I don’t think they are good for starter who have no money to spend on software. 7 Days is not enough to explore a software and get comfortable with.
Secondly, I understand that many people have access and use patched/cracked version of all Adobe Software’s and uses it to do their work, it am totally against piracy. I say from a businessman perspective.
If you want to organically grow your freelancing profession editing videos, I recommend purchasing software license or use the ones I have recommended above when starting up until you make money.
These include Pexels, Videvo, Pixabay, Vidsplay and Pikwizard. Utilize these sites when starting up to get free videos and photos to use in creating stunning videos for your clients. 0
Getting Free Music and Sound Effects
You will need music for use in video intros and general video production. For instance, some videos will not need a voice over narration but instead a background music.
You can get free music on YouTube audio Library here. This is a sure place I know. Of course google search offers you with a whole lot of other alternative places.
How Can These Resources Help You Get Work?
Creating A Video Portfolio
With the free videos and photos, you can create a nice video demo to showcase your skills. Plan this by writing a script that communicates a message. It can be a short video to market a product or service.
Create a couple of different styles of professional videos for use in showcasing your video editing skills. Each time you are requested to send a proposal, send links to the videos alongside it.
Creating Videos For Clients
Some clients don’t have a budget to purchase royalty free videos, photos and music. Having an idea on where to get free assets online will give you an upper hand on getting hired. This means that, you can use the free resources to produce videos and get paid.
And this wraps up our blogpost today on the steps you need to kickstart your video editing career online as a beginner.
Once you have earned money offering video editing services, you can invest the income in purchasing licenses to your favorite video editing software. Your video editing career path will be easy if you patiently follow this advise.

With this said, one must be ready to learn the new way as it is completely different from the traditional path.
Moreover, the process changes all the time but once you are in the loop, maneuvering through the changes will be very easy.
In this blog post, I will be covering the art of hiring a freelancer online faster.

Identify a Trusted Freelance Marketplace
There are many online freelance marketplaces today. What differentiates is their business model. Also, some have all the skills in their databases while others specializes in a specific niche. E.g writing, transcriptions, video editing e.t.c
When scouting for a freelancer marketplace, look at your present and future needs. Apart from the skill that you need to hire for right now, ask yourself, will I need other skills in the future as your business grows? This way, you will be able to narrow down your search.
I recommend signing up on at least two freelance marketplaces with different business models. For instance, some freelancing platforms will require you to post a job and let freelancers send proposals. In others, you will just search for offers on a certain skill and pick a freelance based on their price and ratings from their past completed contracts.
Verification of your account is important for any new client signing up on any freelancing platform. Over the past few years, there has been a rise on malicious accounts being set up by scammers posing as clients only to end up disappearing with Freelancers completed work. Verifying your account will guarantee you protection. Also, when you post a job, it will be displayed to the right freelancers out there for them to send their proposals.
Be Brief and To The Point When You Post a Job-Use The Right Keywords
Everyday, hundreds of jobs are posted by different clients online on popular freelancing platforms. To stand out and get more proposals from freelancers, it’s important to be brief and to the point. Reserve other details to later during the interview once you have shortlisted the right candidate.
If you are searching for gigs or offers by different freelancers in a given platform, use the right keywords. For instance, video production has many other sub-categories. So if you are look for say Screencast video editor, use this exact keywords and you will only see freelancers offering screencast video services.
Once you have shortlisted freelancers, prioritize Freelancers who communicate promptly over everything. This is going by the fact that Freelancers are based in different parts of the world. You can hire anyone so long they communicate promptly and addresses your needs in a clear manner.
Ask them critical things that you value during the interview like their working hours, how they want milestones broken down, their proposed timelines over the timelines you propose to them e.t.c. This is key. Once, you find a freelancer who their response and communication satisfy you, hire them.
Dare to Negotiate
Negotiation should come last. Don’t be shy to ask if the freelancer you choose will be willing to give you a discount along the way if you work with them for a long term. Its ok if they refuse to give you a discount. Just go ahead and hire them.
It’s important to note that freelancers appreciate when you assign them high value projects and work with them for long term. They will be more open and confident in working on your project besides giving you more value for your money along the way.
Allow Them to Share Some of The Work They Complete On Their Social Media or Blog
Freelancers will be happy to post your business on social media or blog after you have worked with them for a while and still guarantee them more work in future. This in a long term will result in great partnership and friendship.
Conclusion
The art of hiring freelancers online is evolutionary. Once you set your foot here, maneuvering through is be easy. The most important thing is to stay positive. At the initial stages, the process will be costly, but in a long run, you will recoup your losses so long as you are persistent. So, Stay focused always.

Many freelancers and online entrepreneurs struggle to settle on a specific mobile application for their productivity. They find themselves rushing for the latest mobile app in the market and ditching what they are familiar with.
Watch video
Problem is, this behavior is addictive and not helpful in anyway. In todays blogpost, I will be showing you 3 useful productivity free tools that comes installed on your android phone that you can utilize as freelancer.
These tools are specifically useful to freelancers and anyone working online. Am certain that the same tools are available on apple phones as well.
Everyday, an app with similar features to what you already have installed on your phone comes into the market. To remain productive in your freelancing and business career, you need to always ask yourself why you are installing a new app.
Do you really need them?
Can what you already have serve the purpose?
It makes no sense to install an app similar to what you already have on your phone.
Here are 3 free tools with features that you need to be productive as an online entrepreneur.
Calculator
What? You never expected this, right! But hang on first.
Calculator is classified as a tool on android phones. In android 10 color OS, the calculator tool has new features. The first feature which is useful to freelancers working with global clients is the Exchange Rate feature. It has all currencies and its up to date. You just need to have your internet connection on to pull the latest exchange rate.
This feature comes in handy when quoting for a service. You can quickly check the exchange rate of your client currency verses yours. e.g United States Dollars to Kenya Shillings.
On top of the exchange rate feature, you may also need to use the unit converter. For instance, in my country, human weight is measured in Kilograms. In other countries like US, the same is measured in pounds. This feature is helpful for people in the fitness business. There are other units like length, Area, Volume, temperature, speed, power and pressure.
Clock
This is the second tool that is quite useful to freelancers. Freelancers and clients online work and live in different Time zones. For instance, I have clients in UK and Australia. Its therefore good to know the best time to communicate with your clients. When you open clock, you can see your time and location.
Here you can add new time for other locations that you are interested in. To do this, click on the +button, Type in the location name on search bar and select the Time zone. The new time zone will be added to your list. This is always useful as it helps you make the right decisions. Sometimes, it not worth taking jobs from clients in some time zones.
Screen Recording
Finally, we have the screen recorder. This is very useful to me and anyone who offers their services as a video producer. I help clients produce professional screencast videos. Occasionally, I take orders to produce demo videos for mobile apps.
Screen recording tool comes in handy. I can record unlimited screen videos in HD without downloading any app from Play store. Its important to note that you can record your voice alongside the screens when working a demo video for an app.
This tool is also useful to freelancers who do Mobile app reviews. They can quickly record screens and share. To access this app, just pull down the top menu on your phone, then choose screen recorder.
The tool will open up with floating controls on your screen. Click on it to start and stop recording. Use the cog setting feature to enable and disable sound recording. Also, you can see more features by tapping on more.
Click the x button to close.
Conclusion
Before I go, Its is important to note that there are other useful tools like Compass (for Chinese Feng Shui in your house) and Digital well being that records data of everything you do on your phone. If you find yourself not very productive, I suggest that you regularly check on the digital well being app to see which apps are robbing you most of your productive time.
The aim here is to be minimal and productive. This way, you can achieve more.
And that’s it from me here.
